MyOfficePortal shares ideas on what to do with old printers that will be replaced with new ones.

What you do with your existing printer will almost always depend on WHY you are getting a new printer. If you are getting a new printer because you would like to upgrade or have a machine with more features, then chances are your old one is still in good working condition.

If this is the case, you may want to consider donating your existing printer; this may mean you will be giving it to a printer-less friend or family member, or turning the machine over to a charitable organization that specializes in providing computers and peripherals to schools and public agencies.

If you are buying a new printer because your old one is now unusable, then you may want to take it to a waste disposal site that can recycle it. Some recycling places even offer cash for old printers and printer ink cartridges.

Finally, there is the option of trading in your old printer to get a discount for your new purchase. Staples, for instance, is offering a credit scheme towards a new printer to those who bring in their old ones.
