People who purchase printer ink cartridges and toners online have been urged to consider the importance of their personal details. Recently, Get Safe Online warned that criminals are exploiting security-conscious internet users by tricking them into downloading – and paying for – anti-virus protection that in fact turns out to be destructive malware.

It is sometimes orchestrated by cold-calling, and often websites are duped into advertising the software. According to MWR InfoSecurity, consumers should educate themselves as to the methods used by criminals to access their personal information.
