Individuals who value price over quality when it comes to a printer have been told that they may want to wait until the end of the summer to take advantage of the cheapest deals.

Which? highlights that those looking for a printer to use in the home environment may opt for an inkjet device because of their reduced size and added versatility.

This is in contrast to the laser printers that may make more sense for a small business, particularly as text tends to look sharper and that they are generally quicker in terms of printing a number of pages in a short space of time.

However, those wanting a printer for the home still have the choice between all-in-one devices and standard printers, with Which? noting that the latter are the cheaper option.

According to the magazine, "if you want a cheap printer, the best time to search for a deal is late summer and early September".

"With students heading off to university needing a new printer and manufacturers launching new printer ranges in the autumn, bargain printers can be found at this time of year," the publication added.

Searching for the printer with the lowest costs for replacing ink cartridges may prove a false economy, as Which? remarks that "different printers may use different amounts of ink to print the same documents and photos".
