The Canon PIXMA MP990 is designed for photography enthusiasts looking to get the best results from their printer ink at home.

It is the most expensive all-in-one in the company's range and offers more that its other ink printers, according to one reviewer.

Writing for Trusted Reviews, Simon Williams said: "[It] has all the bells and whistles of the others, plus some."

He added that like other PIXMA models, it can print on properly coated CD and DVD blanks, using a separate disc holder which slots in behind a fold-down cover inside the machine, and has a 150-sheet paper cassette.

Mr Continues went on to say that the PIXMA MP990 uses a six-ink cartridge print engine adds photo black and grey inks to the standard palette.

This week, Nick Francesco, an IT reporter for the New York State-based Democrat and Chronicle said that printers over the age of seven years old will not work with the new Microsoft Windows 7 programme.
