Individuals and families in the market for a new printer may be interested to hear that the team at gave the Canon Pixma MX870 printer an above average review.

With so much competition and confusion in the printer market it's reassuring to receive a clear idea about what is best to go with - ink cartridges or toner cartridges, inkjet or laser - and this review does just that.

The review said the plus points regarding the piece of kit was that it was very easy to use, an essential starting point for any printer - be it one that takes ink cartridges, or toner cartridges.

While the inclusion of dual paper feeders and the built-in scanning/printing duplexers was a feature that acted in the Canon's favour.

But, and there's always a but, it scored negative points for its overall slow performance that resulted in a print image quality that "could be better".

Overall, the editor wrote: "This big all-in-one Canon Pixma MX870 inkjet is easy to use and has lots of features attractive to small-office users, but it offers little that the competition doesn't."
