Gutenprint has unveiled new printer drivers that will support Canon and Epson devices.

Thanks to the drivers, the performance of several Canon printers has been bolstered, with many of the systems now able to carry out borderless printing, reports the H Open.

The technology will also offer benefits to owners of Canon and Pixma printers in particular, who are now able to combine the configuration options of such devices and use them together.

Gutenprint's latest technology means that the company now supports more than 1,600 printers.

While Cannon printers are set to receive a boost from these new systems, the manufacturer has also been praised by experts in the printing industry, as it recently picked up awards from the Technical Image Press Association.

One of the many devices recognised by the group was the PIXMA MG8250 inkjet printer, which collected the Best Multifunction Photo Printer accolade, after being commended for its sleek design and efficient connectivity.
