Canon further exerted its influence over the inkjet industry in 2012, building on its leading market performance, according to the latest study carried out by the International Data Corporation (IDC).

The analyst's new report shows that Canon enjoyed a 42 per cent market share last year, which included both Single Function Printers and Multi Function Printers, with its Single Function dominance in particular grabbing a 52 per cent share, and its Multi-Function printers achieving a 39 per cent share.

The PIXMA line proved to be a key driver for growth, with the PIXMA iP2770 Single Function Printer achieving positive reviews for its quality and versatility, making it the top selling Single Function Printer since 2011.

In addition, the PIXMA iP4970 Photo Printer received the Silver Award from HWM and the PIXMA E500 Ink Efficient All In One Printer scooped the Gold Award.

A key attraction for buyers in 2012 proved to be the patented Chromalife 100+ technology that comes with each machine and is designed to ensure that every photo printed on Canon PIXMA printers with Canon genuine ink and photo paper lasts up to 300 years.
