The latest printers and scanners released by Canon are to receive driver updates in a bid to maximise performance and ensure user security.

Technology giant Apple has announced the released of the Canon Inkjet Printer Drivers v2.11 for OS X, which it says will help to install the latest software for Canon Inkjet printers or scanners.

Apple, which also has a list of supported Canon devices, announced that all users with relevant devices should be able to benefit from the upgrades.

Owners of Canon devices attached to their Mac or on your network should see the update show up in Software Update on the Mac App Store.

There is also the option to download a standalone installer, which works out at 200.46MB, but may be preferable for those who have system restrictions.

The number of Canon devices supported by Apple totals over 100, ranging from the Canon CanoScan 5600F to the Canon Pro9500II series.
