The new printer from Dell is likely to appeal to businesses that value speed, according to a new appraisal of the device.

In its assessment of the Dell B3460dn mono laser printer, PC Advisor noted that it is "well worth considering" for busy office environments where a "reliable workhorse" is needed and speed and volume are more important than aesthetics.

According to the review, it is one of the few examples of a manufacturer boasting an accurate account of what the machine is capable of, particularly in terms of its speed.

"We say rapid, as the B3460dn is a veritable racehorse. Claimed speeds are frequently over-inflated but we found text and graphic documents zoomed out at around 44ppm, which was actually close to Dell's advertised 47ppm," it added.

Although the reviewer noted that it is not the most attractive mono laser printer on the market, the potentially low ink costs, high volume printing and pace make it an "obvious consideration", the assessment concluded.
