Epson thermal printer receives energy award

A new point-of-sale printer from global manufacturer Epson has received an Energy Star award.

The fifth generation TM-T88V has been designed to handle high levels of work and still maintain good levels of energy efficiency.

In addition, the print head which distributes the ink has a 50 per cent greater coverage than the previous model, according to the printer vendor, which also manufactures ink cartridges.

A spokesperson for the company said: "The new checkout printer also has impressive environmental credentials. All technical processes and materials used in the manufacture of the TM-T88V represent the very latest in environmental protection.

"It not only provides the best CO2 balance of all Epson thermal printers to date, but is also set to become the benchmark for its category. The Epson TM-T88V is the first thermal receipt printer anywhere in the world to have been awarded the Energy Star for electricity-saving office equipment."
