Printer ink maker Epson has had its Epson Stylus Pro 3880 recognised as the European Printer for 2010-11.

The printer was awarded the accolade by European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) and now looks to assert itself as market leader in the professional imaging industry.

Suitable for both professional photographers and amateur enthusiasts, the Stylus Pro 3880 uses Epson's sophisticated fourth generation UltraChrome K3 Vivid Magenta ink set. It is boosted with the addition of two new colours, vivid magenta and vivid light magenta.

The EISA panel said they were impressed with a range of features the printer offered, including size, resolution and volume capabilities.

"Epson's Stylus Pro 3880 is an A2+ professional printer small enough to be classed as a desktop model. The printer specialises in producing high-quality monochrome and colour pictures with print resolutions of up to 2880x1440dpi, using Epson's UltraChrome K3 Vivid Magenta pigment-based inks. It is a great choice for photographers who print in volume, as each cartridge has a capacity of 80ml."

The printer ink maker recently teamed up with Royal Phillips Electronics to develop a printer and medical images system.
