Man Utd Sign Epson As New Sponsor
Printer ink maker Epson has signed a global sponsorship deal with footballing powerhouse Manchester United. According to Marketing Week, the deal is thought to be for two years and worth £3 million.
Epson will supply the famous club with technology and consumables products for its Old Trafford complex. The deal was launched at the stadium on Saturday, ahead of Man U's game against Blackburn Rovers.
Epson said the agreement will enable it to raise its brand awareness and profile in Europe. "The partnership with Manchester United aligns Epson with an exciting and globally recognised brand, bringing us closer to our customers worldwide," Epson's president, Minoru Usuim, said.
Manchester United's chief executive, David Gill, said: "Epson is a superb global brand, that sits perfectly alongside our existing partners." Recently, reports suggested that Epson was considering launching a bid to buy the club from its US owners, the Glazer family.
