Separate ink cartridges tanks have helped Epson's Stylus Photo PX710W to be named Best Printer at the PC Advisor Awards 2011.

Voted for by the magazine's editors and expert contributors, all products nominated for the awards – which cover hardware, software and readers' choices – have had to face the rigours of PC Advisor's test centre.

Described as a "great multifunction printer", the PX710W was praised for its six separate ink cartridges tanks, which makes them cheaper to replace, an efficient CD tray and photo-print quality documents.

Despite some concerns with its copying capabilities and its user interface, the PC Advisor team remained "hugely impressed with this talented home printing lab".

Epson's Stylus Pro 3880 was runner up in the category, followed by Kyocera's FS-C535ODN and Oki's C110.

LogMeIn Ignition was named Best Phone App, with Angry Birds runner up, and PC Advisor readers named Amazon's Kindle 3 as Gadget of the Year.
