HP is now aiming to dominate the tablet market, after establishing itself as one of the globe's top printer manufacturers.

Speaking to DNA, Rajkumar Rishi, senior director, consumer GTM at HP India, said that the company wants to be known as a leader "in all form factors", rather than just being a leading force in the PC and printer markets.

"Tablets are an extension of our PC business and in fact, HP’s ElitePad tablet is leading in the Asia Pacific region," Mr Rishi told the news provider.

However, he admitted that smartphones are not in the company's immediate plans, explaining that it is "too early to comment on getting into the smartphones business".

Mr Rishi cited product innovation, competitive prices, and a strong channel network as three reasons for HP's growth in the India region.

Tablets are growing increasingly popular at businesses across the globe, with companies taking advantage of the benefits that come with Wi-Fi printing from a number of mobile devices.
