Ink Cartridge Firm HP Goes 3D
Ink cartridge firm HP goes 3D
Fans of all printers and ink cartridges manufactured by toner cartridge producer Hewlett Packard (HP) may be interested to hear that the company is about to start shipping the first of its three-dimensional (3D) printers.
According to an article on DesignNews.com, the printers, manufactured by Startasys, will be shipped off to five European countries with an ultimate goal of going global with the 3D printers.
Scott Crump, Stratasys chairman and chief executive, said: "We believe the time is right for 3D printing to become mainstream. We also believe that HP's unmatched sales and distribution capabilities and Stratasys technology is the right cominbation.
"HP has made a similar move in this market before, capturing a dominant position in large-format 2D printers. Together we hope to repeat this success with 3D printers."
This news comes soon after Volkswagen replaced more than 52,000 fax machines, printers, photocopiers and scanners with less than 17,500 all-in-one devices throughout its business and integrated these products into a unified IT infrastructure.
