Fans of Konica printers and their range of printer ink - including ink cartridges and toner cartridges - may be interested to know that it won the 2009 Evergreen Award from the US General Services Administration (GSA) in the Technologies and Electronics category.

The 12th annual award was handed over because of Konica Minolta's commitment to green initiatives, including efforts to maximise efficiency and to minimise its environmental impact.

Konica's Clean Planet Program in the United States aims to reduce the environmental impact of its products throughout their lifecycle by recycling customers' toner cartridges and bottles at specific centres.

Regional commissioner Linda Chero said: "These companies have done an outstanding job in making environmentally-friendly options available to GSA client agencies and are committed to demonstrating that green products are a viable option for customers."

This news comes soon after a useful guide included on the internet offered up some sensible knowledge about how to avoid paying through the nose for printer ink and getting the most of what is now an essential bit of kit in most homes.
