Ink cartridge, printer and global technology leader Lexmark is celebrating its 20-year anniversary.

Throughout this week Lexmark employees around the world are commemorating the company's birthday and reflecting on its contribution to the printing and imaging market over the last two decades.

Furthermore, in recognition of Lexmark's anniversary, its staff have committed to doing 20 years worth or 175,200 hours of volunteer service in 2011.

Paul Rooke, president and chief executive officer at Lexmark, said: "Our customer intimacy and industry-leading technology, coupled with the dedication and commitment of our employees, has driven our success and will be key to our future."

He added that expanding Lexmark's technology will continue to serve the future well in the coming years.

The ink cartridge manufacturer was originally founded as a split-off from International Business Machines (IBM), where its employees outlined an ambitious goal to become a global technology.

Recently, Lexmark's Genesis S815 4-in-1 printer received a Red Dot Award for its excellent design quality.
