HP Officejet 6500 Gives Laser Printers A Run For Their Money
A new printer from HP is a competitor to its laser counterparts and aimed at smaller companies, according to a new review.
The Officejet 6500 is both "affordable" due to its £100 price tag and costs less to run than lasers, said VNUNet's Will Stapley.
He described the tool as sturdy as well as easy to operate and install, despite there being no wireless option.
Buying a high-capacity ink cartridge brings mono copies down to 1.9p each and the print quality is good quality - Mr Stapley said users would be "hard pushed" to tell the difference between them and the results from a laser printer.
However, the automatic document feeder is only able to cope with 35 pages at once and there is no manual duplex unit.
But on the plus side, photo output gives "vivid and reasonable detailed images" with four ink cartridges.
"There's no doubt that the Officejet 6500 is cheap to run compared to lasers and £100 isn't much for an inkjet with print, copy, scan and fax functionality," he concluded, recommending the printer for small workgroups and home offices.
Those who need a unit specifically for printing photos could look at some of the other models available from HP.
