The new HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless represents a 'near-perfect solution' for both home and small business users looking for a cost-effective all-in-one machine, it has been claimed.

Following on from its recent launch, which saw the HP 8500 replace the older HP J6480, the technology website ZDnet.com has praised almost every aspect of the printer, though particular attention was lavished on its ability to transfer printer ink onto paper according to a user's needs.

"It's true that most offices won't put as much importance on the quality of prints as the speed, but it's good to know that no matter what the settings say, the device will still give you pinpoint colour accuracy," the review noted.

"We also couldn't be more pleased with the output quality of the photos and documents."

Central to this high-quality performance is the fact that the new Pro 8500 draws its ink from four individual printer ink cartridges and two print heads housing an additional two colours, with this also proving cost-effective for both business and home users.

Meanwhile, HP recently confirmed that it is start selling Canon-branded multi-functional printers later this year.
