Epson has launched a new printer capable of producing high-quality package proofs.

According to the company, the Stylus Pro WT7900 is affordable and can print accurate proofs onto clear and opaque substrates.

The device uses nine different coloured inks including a white aqueous ink suitable for use in both office and factory locations.

Prints are of high-quality through the use of a MicroPiezo TFP print head, which is specifically designed to improve the image quality.

Craig Heckenberg, business unit manager of business solutions division at Epson Australia, said: "The Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 reflects Epson's ongoing commitment to the graphic arts community while showcasing Epson's strong engineering capabilities in another innovative and world-first product.

"The great thing about the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 is that it meets the needs of graphic arts professionals who want colour accurate package proofs on both clear and opaque substrates without the high expense of other conventional package proofing systems."

Epson's new device is expected to be launched in 2010.
