A new application allows people to send images to their printer from their iPhone without the need for wires.

This is thanks to the launch of the Canon Easy Photo-Print iPhone App, which uses a Wi-Fi network and is compatible with the Canon PIXMA wireless printer. says the application is "a touch more mature" than iPrint, a similar programme recently launched by HP.

Individuals who download the app can select paper sizes, find wireless printers and print borderless photos using their printer ink.

One of the most appealing features is the app's ability to print multiple photos at once, while it can also print multiple copies of individual photos up to a maximum of 20.

Yuichi Ishizuka, of Canon's Consumer Imaging Group, said the company is making printing "as seamless and as easy as possible".

"[It is now] easier than ever for consumers to print the images they want from their revolutionary iPhone or iPod touch."

Canon recently showcased its high-speed scanning devices at the ARMA International Conference in Florida.
