A design firm based in Birmingham has received a grant worth £99,000 to help install a new printer.

Graphics and visuals specialist Andesign is investing £500,000 in an Efi-Vutek printer, which is expected to help the company make its production six times as fast, the Birmingham Post reported.

The company was supported in making the acquisition by a £99,000 grant from Advantage West Midlands, a regional development agency.

Andy Williams, director of AndesignUK, told the newspaper: "The investment from Advantage West Midlands has helped to fast-track our expansion strategy and we're delighted to be the first in the country to be working with this particular printer.

"The quality of our output will now become almost photorealistic, and that combined with increased productivity will enable us to deliver a competitive edge to the market."

Funds were awarded to the company for its commitment to growth during the recession while the investment has allowed the business to expand for a second time.
