The problem of never seeming to get what you see with a new printer is one of the reasons why a number of people are reluctant to use them, it has been stated.

Writing a blog for Information Week, Dave Methvin has revealed that he hardly ever uses his printer because of the range of problems he has encountered over time. These include needing to replace all of the separate ink cartridges when only one has run out, the layout of a document being outside the printable area of the paper and jams occurring more often than not.

"My wife's old printer even refused to print a document if any of the cartridges were empty," he explained. This is particularly annoying if we were headed out the door and needed to print out something that we couldn't take with us in computer form. I would prefer to have an off-colour document than no document at all."

Furthermore, the fact that he has had to return some unused ink cartridges after owning them for six months is proof at how often these days he decides to switch his printer on.
