The importance of recycling ink cartridges and taking a more sustainable approach to printing has been reiterated in an article on a student newspaper, in news that should be of interest to consumers currently struggling to keep control of printing costs.

Written in Royal Purple News, the article recommends recycling ink cartridges as the number one way to green, as according to earthtonesolutions.com, more than 700 million ink cartridges are used in the United States every year.

It suggests that simply dropping off the goods to a nearby recycling centre could cut this wastage out.

Finally, the article recommends printing on both sides of paper, as according to the Environmental Protection Agency website, 85 million tonnes of paper and paperboard are used in the United States ever year.

By printing on both sides of paper, the valuable resource can be saved, it suggests.

This news comes soon after a higher education institution said it saved 30 per cent on ink by switching all documents to the Century Gothic font.
