Printer ink maker Samsung this week announced it would welcome two new managerial appointments for its UK print and display teams.

Dion Smith will join as general manager, print division, while Philip Gaut will come into the fold to head up the display division. Samsung said the new appointments cement its commitment to enhance the success of the three strings of its IT business, note PC, display, and print.

Mr Smith brings 20 years industry experience to the printer ink firm, and joins after holding leading senior roles across the world. His past work includes spells at Dell, where he had responsibility for sales, solutions and service, and at Hewlett Packard, where he developed its managed print services.

Mr Gaut joins from Acer, where he was head of peripherals and oversaw the firms TFT and projector sales. He has also worked at Sony and Canon. At Sony Mr Gaut held responsibility for projecting B2B Notebook and AV sales.

Graham Long, vice president of Samsung's UK and Ireland IT business, said: "Dion and Philip’s combined wealth of experience in the print, display and the IT industry make them invaluable additions to our team. We’re continuing to build the foundations of Samsung UK’s IT Business and I believe they will both play a key role in driving the long term growth of our brand across both markets."

The printer ink firm recently launched its new SF Series Note PCs and NF Series Netbook.
