Samsung will open a new assembly plant in Ethiopia, which will focus on developing laptops and printers.

At the company's fourth annual conference in Cape Town, it confirmed that an agreement has been made to introduce the development, while deals have also been concluded to assemble TV sets and refrigerators in the country.

As part of the agreement, consumers buying TVs will be offered an in-built decoder, allowing them to quickly benefit from a digital experience.

Samsung Electronics East Africa's chief operating officer Robert Ngeru said: "We have finalised the agreement with officials from the Metal and Engineering Corporation and officials from other government bodies."

Earlier this month, Samsung announced its GALAXY S4 mobile phone.

The device can be used to send articles to compatible HP printers in both the inkjet and LaserJet lines.

It also boasts HSPA+42 Mbps and 4G LTE connectivity, meaning that consumers can take advantage of reliable connectivity.
