Samsung’s Xpress SL-C410W has been awarded four stars from a writer at Digital Versus.

The model is the first of its kind to boast near-field-communication (NFC) capabilities, with users able to print and scan documents shared on their compatible smartphone or tablet by placing the device close to the machine.

“The Samsung Xpress SL-C460FW's NFC capabilities - a first for this type of machine - greatly simplify the printing process, as you don't need any apps or drivers. But with Samsung Mobile Print you could already print and scan remotely from your phone or tablet,” said Marine Goy.

She added that the lack of duplex and the high cost per page may discourage some buyers.

Ms Goy also cited the lack of a touchscreen, and the 150-capacity paper tray as drawbacks.

She also noted how automatic print reports waste both paper and toner.

Paper wastage could be a major disadvantage for consumers, as the running costs of the materials could build up significantly in the long run, causing consumers to spend more than they previously anticipated.
