The SX200 printer is an excellent price and offers real value for money. The Epson SX200 is ideal for digital imaging and photography printing. Being an all in one the Epson SX200 offers the ability print, copy and scan with the added features using Epson Easy Photo Print and Photo Fix available with the software.
Offering a compact and stylish black finish the SX200 fits into the standard Epson mould of well-presented and finished printers. Slightly on the noisy side when printing, the SX200 offers all the capabilities similar to it counterpart the SX400.
The Epson SX200 printer scanner copier allows for 3 main functions. Full photo quality colour printing, full colour scanning & independent photocopier function. The SX200 takes either the T0711 or T0891 Epson ink cartridges.
The SX200 is good, up to a point. It’s a little noisy and takes some time to get itself ready to print - Then the troubles set in.
Epson think the SX200 problem may be associated with non-standard ink cartridges. However, I think they’re wrong since it has worked from the first time I replaced the cartridges with Internet-ink ones and that was about two or three months ago. The printer is less than a year old. Doug Brown
From the Editor: - You’re correct Doug. Compatible inks will not affect your printer in this way. My suggestion would be to update your printer drivers. You can find these on the Epson website for the SX200 printer.
I have a Epson SX200 I have proper ink and when it’s half full it says ink not recognisable. I have spent a fortune on ink because I thought it was just using a lot, but no its not using a lot of ink the cartridge is half full and saying it is empty. I am taking it back as I can’t get it to recognise the ink. Karon Smith
I haven’t had the SX200 printer long and I do not make a lot of use of it but so far it has done what I have asked of it. Of course it is early days yet but whilst I agree it is noisy and sounds like a bag of nails, the time it takes to get going is much faster than my old Epson R300. If it should begin to give me trouble I will return to the reviews and add further comment. Deekay
The Epson SX200 is by far the most annoying printer I have ever purchased. The print quality is fantastic, but I have went through 2 sets of ink in 2 days, because the print test page showed that the heads needed cleaning. After having to clean the heads repeatedly, 2 sets of ink are now empty. This SX200 printer is going straight in the bin and I will be looking carefully at reviews before buying another printer in future. Alex Crossan
I myself use the Epson Stylus SX200 and have loads of problems with the ink. It says it's empty when it is clearly half full as you can hear it when you shake it, then after keeping trying to charge the cartridge it then says that they are incompatible with the printer and you need to buy Epson cartridges. If I was made of money, perhaps I would, but I'm not so I buy the compatible ones. I am going to try and update the driver as recommended in your comments and see if that helps. Thanks,Tim
Originally around the £70 mark this SX200 printer now can be obtained for around £35. At that sort of money, it can be considered a throw away printer. I have now had two and both have performed within my expectations. Yes it is noisy loading and yes I have found that occasionally I have to clean the print heads. Reference the latter, at Internet Ink prices I do not find it a problem. If you’re after a reasonably good printer and at a decent price with cheap individual ink cartridges. I have tried the best as the saying goes but for economy I always go back to Epson. John Wait
Extremely good workhorse. Sure a bit loud but so what. It goes on for ever printing, copying and scanning. The SX200 cost about £40 so it is a tremendous bargain. My first scanner cost a thousand quid. I would buy another tomorrow if I needed it. Cheers, David Goyder
I bought an SX200 recently and could not get the heads clean which gave horizontal stripes on photographs. Despite changing the cartridges twice, the problem remained and I returned it to Print cartridges for a refund (cost £67). I then bought an SX200 from Comet (£37) and it worked fine for 2 weeks before reverting back to the same problem. This seems to be a fundamental problem in manufacture (made in China) so don't buy one if you want colour prints. Tony Davenport
Good Day. I purchased my SX200 printer, I then read the reviews!! I then thought that I had made a poor choice and was very concerned, next time reviews first then purchase. But to my delight I have found all of the reported failings have not happened to me. In fact based on my experiences unreservedly recommend the SX200 printer. When installing your inks that I have been using now for a number of years the printer tells me that they are not Epson inks.
But as always the Printer has been happy to use them. Not wanting to sound too much of a Goody-Goody I must say that the service Internet-ink provide has always been outstanding, I have only had one small problem with the inks some years back, made a call to a very nice lady who instantly sent replacements that very afternoon and I received them in Suffolk in the following mornings post. Now I need to make an order, many thanks again, Ray Lucas
